A new MERS case in the Philippines

Philippine officials confirmed that they had the second MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) case in the country. An infected person was a foreigner who traveled from Dubai. According to the health officials, he was tested positive and he is in quarantine near Manila. A few months ago, in February, a nurse form Philippines, worked in the Middle East. She was diagnosed with the MERS. However, she recovered. 

There is no cure for MERS. Since the outbreak in South Korea, in May, it has killed 500 people across the whole world. 33 people have died in South Korea. According to a tYonhap news agency, 907 people are in quarantine in this country. Also, they had 186 confirmed cases. Malaysia, China and Thailand also had MERS cases. However, these counties were better isolated. Thailand announced that their only MERS case had fully recovered.

Health officials from the Philippines, said that the infected man was quarantined at the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine. It is located in Muntinlupa City. This location is 30 kilometers south from the capital. He came to Manila from Dubai, after he visited Saudi Arabia. Officials refused to give information about his nationality and date of his arrival. But, according to certain sources, he is from the Middle East. A week ago, he noticed symptoms. He was tested positive and he has been in quarantine since then. 

Janette Garin, a Health Secretary said that a patient has low levels of the virus. There are some indicators that he is already recovering. They are locating more than 200 people, who had contact with an infected patient. At least one person has symptoms.
